The 2024 Mercat de Música Viva de Vic was a resounding success for Barcelona Music Lab, which stood out with a triple proposal focused on technology, innovation, and sustainability. On Thursday, September 19, the MMVV professional area hosted a Pitching session where 10 start-ups related to the music industry had the opportunity to present their projects to a professional audience and investors.
The selected start-ups were noted for their disruptive ideas, ranging from gamifying music discovery to using AI to streamline music creation or event management. Playlo, Musairec, and Silent World Event, among others, captivated the audience with their concepts, demonstrating their commitment to the future of music and the technological possibilities available.
In addition to the Pitching session, Barcelona Music Lab brought an impactful sustainable visual art installation to the MMVV, created with Domestic Data Streamers. This installation captivated attendees with its use of recycled materials such as PET plastic bottles and 3D printing technology, offering a reflection on the Catalan music ecosystem and a commitment to sustainability.
To close the day, the “Inner Voice” show by Carles Marigó, in collaboration with Artificia, delivered an immersive experience for an exclusive professional audience. The use of artificial intelligence in this concert demonstrated how the boundaries between technology and artistic creativity can blur to create new forms of musical expression.
With this triple proposal, Barcelona Music Lab has reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the music sector, establishing itself as a key player in the industry’s future.
