Miquel Curanta will be the new Director General of the Barcelona Music Lab Foundation

This Monday, the incorporation of Miquel Curanta Girona as the head of the Barcelona Music Lab Foundation became effective. Curanta arrives after a year and a half of the entity’s operation and with the intention of consolidating the project, which began just over a year ago. The arrival of the new director coincides with the celebration of the Sustainable Festival Challenge and the first call for project support.

In the first case, it is an open innovation project that seeks startups working to address environmental issues. This year’s edition focuses on waste management in the context of large music festivals.

On the other hand, the call for project support plans to finance projects, either partially or in full, with the aim of promoting and transforming the music industry through innovation, sustainability, or digital transformation. The call for project submissions will be made public soon.

Curanta has also been the director of Club TRESC for ten years and has worked in various media outlets (Cadena SER, Grup Flaix, Ona Catalana, among others). In 2001, he founded the community-based communication project Ràdio Capital de l’Empordà, which has received several professional recognitions.
